BITU to meet with BNS management concerning redundancies

Scores of  workers at Bank of  Nova Scotia, whose positions are to be made redundant, have mandated their union to meet with the management to discuss ways to save their jobs.

Senator Kavan Gayle, President-General of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU), told RJR News that a meeting was held with the workers on Tuesday.

“All three groupings were in attendance, it gave us the opportunity to apprise the workers on what is happening. It gave us an opportunity to hear the views of the workers. They have given us the mandate to continue to pursue the issue on their behalf…and we intend to do that,” he said.

RJR News was informed on Monday by the BITU that the positions of  the nearly 100 workers will be made redundant and the services they provided will be outsourced to Trinidad.
